What Are Full Arch Dentures?

A full denture, often referred to as a complete denture, occupies the entire oral cavity instead of a specific section. This removable appliance serves as a replacement for missing teeth and is designed for individuals who have lost all of their natural teeth. Typically crafted from acrylic, complete dentures provide a comprehensive solution for restoring a full set of teeth.

Types of Full Dentures

Premium Dentures

Premium dentures are top-quality removable teeth. They're carefully crafted by a dentist and a specialized technician to fit comfortably. These dentures use custom pigmentation for a natural look. While they may cost more, you're getting a high-quality, well-fitting, and aesthetically pleasing denture. Because it fits better, you'll need fewer follow-up visits for adjustments, potentially saving you money in the long run.

Economy Dentures

Economy dentures are a budget-friendly option. While they're cheaper upfront, they're generic and might not fit as well or be as comfortable. Although they save money initially, you might end up spending more over time on adjustments or relining to improve the fit.

Parts of Complete Dentures

There are two parts of a complete denture:

Artificial teeth

  • These function like regular teeth, and help you chew and bite food as you did before tooth extraction. They also restore the appearance of natural teeth.

Denture base

  • This section of the denture serves as a base for artificial teeth and helps restore both damaged soft and hard tissues.

However, since your mouth is slightly different on the upper and lower parts of your jaw, your denture will also be somewhat different.

Full upper denture

This section of the denture is known as the maxillary arch, and it includes a plate that covers the roof of the mouth.

Full lower denture

This area is referred to as the mandibular arch, taking on a horseshoe-shaped denture that rests on the gum and bone tissues.

Full dentures are wonderful, enhancing your life by giving you the confidence to smile and savor your favorite foods. Yet, because they are removable, you may need a solution to keep them securely in place.
